Accounts, sign-in and profile sync
What signing in does, what syncs between computers, how it is encrypted, and the errors you may see.
Error codes: account.session_expired, account.local_network_blocked, account.signed_out, account.server_outdated, account.sync_not_in_plan, request.unauthorized
Browz opens on Sign in to Browz, and there is no signed-out mode. Your account is on the Browz server named by the server address. Settings, Account and appearance shows who you are signed in as, the server, this computer and the sync state, with Sync now and Sign out.
On a paid plan, profiles, proxies, folders, automation flows and a set of settings sync between your computers. A profile's browser session (cookies and site storage) syncs too, so it continues on the next computer you open it on. History never syncs, and settings that describe one machine stay on that machine.
Sync is a paid-plan feature (plan policy of 15 October 2026). On the Free plan your profiles stay on this computer and keep working: you can create up to five, start them and use the local API, but the Browz server refuses to store synced copies, with the code account.sync_not_in_plan. They do not appear on your other computers and are not backed up by sync, so export important profiles. A paid plan turns sync on; a lapsed plan keeps what was already synced readable and exportable, but stops new uploads.
Everything that syncs is end-to-end encrypted on your computers with a key derived from your password. The Browz server stores it but cannot read it, and refuses anything that is not encrypted.
- your session has ended; sign in again, or sign in first: sign in again from the sign-in screen or Settings, Account and appearance. An error with the code request.unauthorized means the same: the request was not signed in.
- this Browz server is too old for end-to-end encrypted sync: the server must be updated before this version of Browz can sign in to it.
- Signing in as a different account moves this computer's previous local profiles into a backup folder. They are moved aside, never deleted.
- macOS is blocking Browz from the local network: this appears only when the server address is on your local network. Click Allow if macOS asks, or turn on Browz in System Settings, Privacy and Security, Local Network, then sign in again.
